250K NATIONAL ALLERGY STRATEGY CAMP FOR SCHOOL AGED TEENS WITH SEVERE ALLERGY IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Unfortunately, the National Allergy Strategy has made the decision to postpone the Western Australian 250K Youth Camp until 2022 due to COVID-19 and border closures. Instead, the National Allergy Strategy team will be hosting a one day ‘250K Fun Day’ and are encouraging all those who were excited to come on camp to attend.
Staying at a friend’s place for the night is always a lot of fun. Sleepovers tend to be all about staying up all night, gossiping, eating, playing video games, watching movies and not a lot of sleep!
However, it can be daunting staying over at someone else’s house when you have a food allergy.
Can we be real for a second? Being bullied is the worst.
It’s hurtful, and can have a huge impact on someone for a long time. Sadly most teens experience bullying at some stage in their lives. As someone living with severe food allergy, you may have actually experienced some form of bullying specifically about your allergy.
Our world and our lives have changed so much in such a short time due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is challenging for all of us and it is important that we reach out to those who can help us to adjust to the rapid changes in our lives.
The Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) has developed information and guidance regarding COVID-19.

Friday on camp saw our Peer Mentors undertake the beginning of their training.
Saturday! Our only full-day on camp, and it was JAM-PACKED with fun activities, team bonding and learning about managing our allergies.
Sadly, Sunday had to come around eventually. BUT – we had the most incredible morning snorkelling down at Flinders Pier.
Starting high school is an exciting, but daunting time for everyone. Everything was a lot simpler in primary school; you had the same classmates, classroom and teacher for the whole year, and didn’t really have to think about moving around the school too much.

The festive season is upon on. For many, this time of year brings about plenty of eating, drinking, and celebrating. For many with food allergies the holiday period can be difficult to manage as there is always SO MUCH FOOD around.
Hi, my name is Leander and I’ve been living with a peanut and egg allergy for 18 years. Early 2019 I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to attend the National Allergy Strategy’s 250k Youth Camp.

Years 10, 11 and 12 may be some of the hardest and stressful years at school – but, they come with rewards – a school formal/ball or social. It’s a night of celebration, glitz and glam, lots of photos and plenty of reminiscing, particularly for those finishing school. Read more

What’s been happening at 250K
Over the past few months we have been progressing with an update to the 250K website. We are soon to have a NEW section entirely for young adults (ages 18-25), and a refreshed new look of the school-aged teens site. Read more
Monday at camp. An early start for us, we had to be up and packed, lunches made and ready to leave camp by 9am! It was then off to Sydney Trapeze school for circus lessons. We learnt how to trapeze, use aerial silks and to master juggling. To finish, we built our very own 250K human pyramid. What a blast. Read more
Sunday activities included rock climbing and the high ropes course, as well as more health discussions and team challenges. After the day’s activities, we were all pretty exhausted! But that didn’t stop us from joining Pete Griffiths (CEO Australian Camps Association) on an evening walk around camp. Read more
We made it! Our first full day at camp. Saturday was jam-packed full of action. In the morning, we kayaked down the river, zoomed through the air on the flying fox. Later we swung as high as possible on the giant swing. Read more
A 2016 youth survey conducted by the National Allergy Strategy showed that 50% of respondents felt as though they couldn’t carry their EpiPen® during social occasions as the device is too bulky, and doesn’t fit in a clutch or pocket. Read more
